About Us

The beginning of SLEGA coincided with the necessity of creating a supportive base for the undergraduate community in our country to develop English Language skills. As we know, most of our undergraduates are drawn from sub-urban and rural areas, where proper English education facilities aren’t available. Until recent times the main medium of instruction in schools was Sinhala and Tamil language; their mother tongue, depriving them of a chance to be on par with international standards. so, the program was a much-sought affair. With that cherished idea in mind, our founder, Mr.Akalanka Dharmakeerthi, started this ambitious institution, SLEGA college. Mr.Akalanka Dharmakeerthi has gained widespread recognition as an English language teacher since 2005. In 2017, under his chairmanship, the SLEGA College was established. In addition, Mr.Akalanka Dharmakeerthi currently serves as the President of the Sri Lanka English Language Graduates’ Association. He founded it in January 2016 and started catering to the need of English Language thirsty students.
